Local TV Aerial Repair Engineers
A good repair starts with proper testing. Our engineer checks the aerial, cable, signal strength, wall plate and connected equipment before recommending anything.
We have been fixing TV reception since 2006 and have helped over 100,000 customers, so there are very few aerial faults our engineers have not seen before.
Where a simple fix will do the job, we will say so. If the aerial is unsafe, corroded or no longer suitable for the signal in your area, we will explain why and quote for a replacement so you can compare both options.
Do You Need a Repair or a Retune?
If your channels have suddenly disappeared, it is tempting to retune straight away. However, retuning while a signal fault is still present can wipe working channels from your TV list.
It is usually better to check the aerial system first. A professional signal test shows whether the issue is caused by aerial movement, cable damage, water ingress, a faulty booster, a loose connector or a local reception problem.
Once the signal is stable, the TV can be retuned if required.
TV Aerial Repair Services We Provide
Most reception faults can be traced to one part of the aerial system. These are the repairs our engineers carry out most often.

TV aerial repairs should be carried out carefully, especially when the aerial is fitted on a roof, chimney or high external wall.
A damaged aerial system can affect picture quality, channel availability and signal stability. Sometimes the fault is visible from the ground. More often, the cause is hidden inside a cable, socket, splitter or amplifier.
Our engineers deal with aerial faults every day. They can tell whether the problem sits with the aerial, the cabling, the connectors, the signal distribution equipment or the TV setup itself, and then explain the most suitable repair.
Common issues we investigate
Aerial Faults Our Engineers Find Most Often
A TV aerial system is more than the aerial on the roof. A fault at any point between the aerial and your television can cause the same symptoms, which is why our engineers test the whole system.
- The aerial. Knocked out of alignment by wind, corroded with age, or damaged by birds or storms.
- External cable and connections. Water gets into joints and old cable cracks in the sun, causing breakup in wet weather.
- Amplifier and power supply (if fitted). When a booster fails, every TV in the house usually loses signal at once.
- Splitter. Each extra TV weakens the signal, and a poor splitter can leave some rooms with no picture.
- Wall plate. A loose or corroded socket usually affects just one room.
- Fly lead and TV. A damaged lead or a TV tuning problem. This is the first thing to check yourself.
The table below shows the faults we come across most, what you are likely to notice and how they are normally fixed.
| Fault | What you notice | Usual fix |
|---|---|---|
| Water in the cable or aerial connection box | Picture breaks up in rain or damp weather, then recovers when it dries out. | Replace the affected cable and refit weatherproof connections. |
| Failed masthead amplifier or power supply | Every TV in the house loses signal at the same time. | Test the amplifier and its power supply unit, then replace the failed part. |
| Aerial knocked out of alignment | Weak or unstable signal, often starting after strong wind. | Realign the aerial to the correct transmitter and check the fixings. |
| Older aerial not suited to current frequencies | Some channels or multiplexes are missing while others work normally. | Realign, or fit a suitable wideband aerial if the existing one cannot cover the frequencies now in use. |
| Mobile network interference | Pixelation that comes and goes, especially where a booster is fitted. | Confirm the interference with testing and fit a suitable filter. |
| Too many splitters or a poor quality splitter | Reception gets worse each time another TV is added. | Replace with a correctly sized distribution amplifier. |
| Bird damage | Bent aerial elements or a gradual loss of signal over time. | Repair or replace the aerial and consider bird spikes to stop it happening again. |
Find the Likely Cause of Your TV Aerial Fault
Use this quick guide to match your problem with a likely cause. It does not replace a signal test, but it can help you explain the issue when you call.
Pixelating picture
Pixelation usually points to weak or unstable signal. The cause may be aerial movement, damaged cable, poor connectors, a faulty amplifier, water ingress or an issue with signal distribution inside the property.
Our engineer can test the signal at different points, then explain whether you need a repair, cable replacement, adjustment or booster check.
Call for Pixelation RepairsNo signal on screen
A no signal message may be caused by a damaged aerial, disconnected cable, loose wall plate, failed amplifier or TV input issue. Because the message can have several causes, testing is important.
We can check the aerial feed and connected equipment before advising on the best repair.
Call Mobile for AdviceMissing Freeview channels
Freeview channels can disappear when the signal drops below a usable level. A retune may help after a repair, but retuning too early can make the channel list worse.
We can test your signal first, repair the fault where suitable and then help with retuning. For dedicated setup advice, visit our Freeview aerial installation page.
View Freeview ServicesOnly one room affected
If one room has poor reception while another works normally, the aerial itself may not be the main issue. The fault may sit within a splitter, cable run, wall plate, TV socket or distribution amplifier.
We can trace the faulty part and repair it where suitable. For new room connections, visit our extra TV points page.
View Extra TV PointsFault after bad weather
Strong wind and rain can move an aerial, loosen brackets, damage external coaxial cable or allow water into connectors. Even a small movement can reduce signal quality.
Where access is safe, we can inspect the aerial, check fixings and advise whether a repair, realignment or replacement is needed.
WhatsApp After Storm DamageSafe Checks to Try Before You Book an Aerial Repair
Some reception problems are not aerial faults at all. These quick checks can all be done safely from inside your home and may save you a call out. Never climb onto a roof or ladder to check an aerial yourself.
- Check whether every TV is affected. If only one television has a problem, the fault is more likely to be that TV, its lead or its wall socket than the aerial on the roof.
- Push the aerial lead in firmly at both ends. Loose plugs at the wall plate and the back of the TV are one of the most common causes of a no signal message. Try a different aerial lead if you have one.
- Check any booster or amplifier has power. If you have a signal booster with a power light, make sure it is switched on and the light is showing. A failed power supply can knock out every TV in the house at once.
- Check for known transmitter problems. Planned engineering work or a transmitter fault can affect a whole area. The Freeview updates and alerts page lists current disruption.
- Check which channels you should receive. The Freeview channel checker shows the channels predicted for your address, which helps confirm whether a missing channel is a fault.
- Hold off on a full retune. If the signal is unstable, a retune can remove channels that were working. Get the signal checked first, then retune.
If these checks do not solve it, or the problem started after strong wind or heavy rain, it is time for a professional signal test.

TV Aerial Repairs May Suit You If...
- The aerial is still secure and in usable condition.
- The signal problem has only recently started.
- Only one room or one TV point is affected.
- The fault may be linked to a cable, connector or wall plate.
- A signal test shows the aerial can still perform well.
A New Aerial May Be Better If...
- The aerial is badly corroded, unsafe or storm damaged.
- The fittings are loose, rusted or weathered.
- The aerial cannot be aligned properly.
- Reception faults keep returning after previous repairs.
- You need a more reliable setup for everyday viewing.
If replacement is the better option, visit our TV aerial installation page for more detail.
How Much Do TV Aerial Repairs Cost?
The cost of TV aerial repairs depends on the fault, access and parts required. A loose connector or damaged wall plate is usually quicker to fix than a roof-mounted aerial that has moved during bad weather.
What Can Affect the Repair Price?
- The position and height of the aerial.
- Whether safe roofline access is required.
- The length and condition of the coaxial cable.
- Faults within sockets, splitters, boosters or amplifiers.
- Whether replacement brackets or fittings are needed.

TV Aerial Repairs for Freeview and Digital TV
Digital television needs a clean and stable signal. Even a small cable fault, loose connection or aerial movement can cause Freeview pixelation, sound dropouts or missing channels.
Freeview Reception Faults
We can test the signal before you retune the television. This helps prevent working channels from disappearing while an aerial fault is still present.
Once the repair is complete, the TV or Freeview box can be checked and retuned where needed.
Digital Aerial and Cable Faults
Modern digital reception can be affected by damaged coaxial cable, poor connectors, weak distribution equipment and unsuitable amplification.
Testing each part of the system pinpoints the repair instead of relying on guesswork.
When to Arrange TV Aerial Repairs Quickly
Some reception problems are just inconvenient, while others point to loose or damaged external equipment. Contact the team promptly if the aerial looks unstable, a cable is hanging from the roofline or the fault started after strong wind.
- The aerial or mast looks loose after a storm.
- An external cable is hanging or visibly damaged.
- Every television in the property has lost signal.
- Water may have entered an external connector.
- A bracket or fitting appears to have moved.
Do not attempt roof or ladder repairs yourself. Send a safe ground-level photo by WhatsApp where possible, and the team can advise on the next step.
TV Aerial Repairs for Flats, Landlords and Rental Properties
Aerial faults in flats and rented homes often involve more than one television and more than one person responsible for the system.
Flats and Communal Aerial Systems
Many blocks of flats share one aerial that feeds every flat through amplifiers and splitters. If several flats lose signal at the same time, the fault is usually in the shared system. We can test the communal equipment and your own socket to show where the fault sits.
Landlords and Letting Agents
We carry out aerial repairs for landlords, letting agents and property managers, including between tenancies. Tenants can let us in by arrangement, and the quote and invoice can be sent to whoever is paying.
Tenants
In a rented home, an aerial supplied with the property is often the landlord's responsibility, although it depends on the tenancy agreement. It is worth reporting the fault to your landlord or agent before booking, and we are happy to speak to them for you.
Shops, Offices and Businesses
Reception faults in pubs, waiting rooms, offices and shops can be tested and repaired in the same way, including systems that feed several screens.

Frequently Asked Questions About TV Aerial Repairs
Do I need TV aerial repairs if my picture is pixelating?
Pixelation is often caused by weak or unstable signal. TV aerial repairs may be needed if the fault is linked to aerial alignment, damaged cable, loose connectors, a faulty wall plate or weather damage.
Can an existing TV aerial be repaired?
Yes, many existing aerial systems can be repaired if the aerial and fittings are still safe and usable. Common repairs include cable replacement, connector repairs, aerial adjustment and wall plate checks.
Why have my Freeview channels disappeared?
Missing Freeview channels can be caused by weak signal, aerial movement, damaged cables, local reception changes, a failed booster or tuning issues. A signal test can identify the cause before repair work is carried out.
Why did my aerial stop picking up some channels after years of working?
Freeview frequencies have been reorganised across the UK, with the last major changes completed in 2020. Some older aerials are not designed for the frequencies now in use, and gradual corrosion reduces performance further. A signal test will show whether realignment is enough or whether a wideband aerial is the better fix.
Should I retune my TV before booking an aerial repair?
If channels have suddenly disappeared or the picture is breaking up, it is usually better to check the signal first. Retuning before the fault is fixed can sometimes remove channels from your TV list.
Can bad weather damage a TV aerial?
Yes, strong wind and rain can move an aerial, loosen brackets, damage cables or allow water into fittings. If problems started after bad weather, an aerial inspection and signal test may be needed.
Can a mobile phone mast affect my TV aerial signal?
Yes. 4G and 5G signals can interfere with some aerial systems, especially where a booster or masthead amplifier is fitted. The usual sign is pixelation that comes and goes. A suitable filter often solves it, and our engineer can confirm whether interference is the cause.
Can you repair a TV point in one room?
Yes, if one TV point has stopped working, the fault may be linked to the wall plate, cable, splitter or connection for that room. An engineer can test the signal and repair the faulty part where suitable.
How do I know if I need a new aerial instead of a repair?
A new aerial may be recommended if the existing aerial is unsafe, badly corroded, damaged, poorly positioned or unable to receive a reliable signal. If a repair is practical, the engineer will explain that option first.
Is it safe to adjust or repair my own TV aerial?
We do not recommend working on a roof, chimney or high wall yourself. Checking that indoor cables are pushed in firmly is fine, but any work at height should be left to a professional engineer with the right access equipment.
Who is responsible for TV aerial repairs in a rented property or flat?
An aerial supplied with a rented property is often the landlord's responsibility, but it depends on the tenancy agreement. In blocks of flats with a shared aerial, the communal system is usually looked after by the landlord, freeholder or management company. Report the fault to them first, and we can test the system and liaise with them if needed.
Does home insurance cover TV aerial repairs?
Some buildings insurance policies cover storm damage to aerials and their fixings, while others exclude it, so check your own policy. If you plan to claim, take a photo of the damage from the ground and ask for an itemised quote and invoice for your insurer.
Do you offer same-day TV aerial repairs?
Same-day local service is available where possible. Availability depends on engineer schedules, your location and the type of repair required. Calling early gives the best chance of arranging a same-day visit.
