Bournemouth Landmarks
The Pavilion Theatre was thought to be the biggest municipal entertainment project ever when it was built in 1929 in the Art Deco style near to the beachfront. The facade is made of brick and stone and has square Corinthian columns. It is a Grade II listed building now and is still a well-liked location.
In the lower gardens of the town, The Bournemouth Eye was a helium-filled balloon suspended on a steel cable. The steel gondola was enclosed and was 69 metres (226 ft) in diameter on the spherical balloon. Up to 28 passengers were given a panoramic view of the surroundings as it rose to a height of 150 metres (490 ft). The Bournemouth Borough Council, Lower Central Gardens Trust, and S&D Leisure stated in 2017 that the contract for running the Bournemouth Eye will not be extended because to “increasing operational expenses” after the balloon sustained damage in 2016.
